15 July 2022

A big thank you to our Head Prefect Team and all our wonderful student volunteers in years 7, 8 and 9 who all came along and helped out at the recent Year 6 Parents Information Evening.

Visit to RED

On the 30 of June we went to RED - a global company of specialist building services and ICT engineers.

Our main focus was sustainability within engineering and what engineering means to us as individuals. We discussed creativity, the need for more women in STEM and improving infrastructure sustainably.

Our task was to produce and model a paper house with solar-powered elements such as a lightbulb and a ceiling fan which we were able to connect in series to a solar panelled battery.

We really enjoyed this trip and learnt a lot about mechanical and electrical engineering and how essential it is that we take a new approach of thinking for future projects to make our world more sustainable.

PE Round Up - Summer Term

Netball
At the start of this term we played in Netball matches against the other schools in the borough as part of the Camden Shield. Despite the weather, we managed to complete most of our games, with our Year 9/10 team finishing 4th and Year 7 in 3rd. Well done to everyone who took part!

Rounders
We also took part in the Camden Shield Rounders competition this term, at Parliament Hill. We fielded full teams in all age groups, with our 9/10s coming 4th, 8s in 2nd and 7s in 1st!!

Emirates Stadium Matches
As part of the Arsenal in the Community programme, we were invited to play in some friendly matches against schools in Islington and Hackney on the pitch at the Emirates!! We took a group of 10 Year 7-9 students who loved the experience!

Camden Schools Athletics
The Camden Schools Athletics competition made a return this year, with Year 7 and 8 taking part in a range of track and field events. We had some excellent individual performances, with a full list of results on the PE notice boards in both the main school and gym. Many of our students were participating in events for the first time having had some basic training, but despite this, both teams managed to come in 1st place overall!!

London Schools Athletics
Eloise 7T and Sasha 7M were both selected to represent Camden in the 100m competition for having impressed at the Camden Schools Competition and blowing away the rest of the field. Both finished in the top 5 amongst some very tough competition - congratulations!!

Danceathon

The final whole school event of the year was the Danceathon, which is run to raise funds for CASCA and special projects within the school.

Every form created their own choreography in PE lessons over the past month, and performed it in their year group ‘Dance Off’! Each form was given a score out of 10 by the judges, with the winning form going through to the final in the afternoon. It was an incredibly high standard of dance, with all students giving everything they had to their performances.

The final was fiercely contested by 7M, 8R, 9R and 10R, with 10R the eventual winners scoring full marks!!! Eva 8T won the individual competition, and Sara 7M won the ‘best dressed’ award!

A huge congratulations to everyone for all of their hard work, and thank you to Nicki from CASCA for making it happen!

Emirates Stadium Tour
Our football club has been running every Wednesday this year, run by coaches from Arsenal in the Community. As a reward for their commitment, 21 students were given the opportunity to go on a tour of the Emirates Stadium! They were able to see the trophy cabinet, changing rooms, hospitality areas and the pitch amongst other areas. It was fascinating to see just how much thought goes into the designing of a football stadium!!
