The aim is for our students to leave Key Stage 3 equipped with the essential digital resilience, computational thinking skills, and AI literacy necessary to confidently and critically engage with modern technologies.
Students receive discrete Computing lessons in Key stage 3 in order to thoroughly prepare students for the evolving digital world, ensuring they are well-equipped to embrace its opportunities and successfully address its challenges.
At Key Stage 4 students can continue their studies in Computing by selecting to undertake it as a GCSE. For students not taking it at GCSE, we teach them the required skills via their other subject areas in year 10. In addition to this, we aim for all students to achieve the Bronze iDEA award. iDEA.org.uk is an internationally recognised programme that helps individuals develop and certify their digital, enterprise, and employability skills through interactive modules. It functions like a "Duke of Edinburgh's Award for digital skills," enabling students to earn badges and progress through Bronze, Silver, and Gold awards, thereby building a valuable portfolio of achievements.
