    Catch up Premium

The Year 7 catch-up premium is a fund to support pupils who did not achieve the expected standard in reading and/or maths at the end of Key Stage 2

The department of education states that effective use of funding to support catch-up may include:

    • individual tuition in addition to classroom teaching
    • intensive small-group tuition
    • purchasing external services and materials to add to those provided by the school, for example tutor services or proven computer-based learning or online support
    • summer or holiday schools to deliver intensive catch-up over a short period

For the year 2018-19 we received £2,521. We do not usually receive confirmation of the amount or payment until the end of the financial year. Thus, we will update the figure for 2019-20 in April.

At Camden School for Girls we  support our students who do not achieve a level 4 in reading and/or maths at the end of key stage 2 by:

    • Having nurture groups in English and Maths
    • In English the students follow the Lit programme which uses a method known as reciprocal teaching. Reciprocal teaching methods encourage pupil to ‘become the teacher’. They are taught how to apply four comprehension strategies: summarising, clarifying, questioning, and predicting. These strategies enable pupils to check that they understand the content of the material they are reading and can make inferences based on what they have read

The impact of such funding will be monitored through assessment data, assessment for learning, behaviour, homework and attitude by the English and Maths department
