Would you like to represent Camden in this year's Virtual London Youth Games??
What do I need to do?
There are challenges set at 9am every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at https://www.londonyouthgames.org/virtual-games/ , you just need to follow the instructions for the challenge and submit your score before 12 noon on the Friday of the same week on the LYG website! All of the information you need is on this website. The competition will run until the 4th of July.
Do I need to have trained for the events?
No! When you clink on the link, you’ll see that there’s very little training you can do for any of these events! By all means do a bit of practice before submitting your results, but you won’t need to have a significant skill level. This week’s challenges are the: ‘5 shot challenge’; ‘60 second burpee challenge’ and ‘bottle cap challenge’.
Just make sure you’ve watched the instructional video on the website to make sure you’re doing the event correctly.
Can I win anything?
Yes! LYG (the organisers) will be awarding a weekly 'MVP' where Nike trainers are up for grabs. To be in with a chance, challenge attempts have to be recorded and shared on social media using the hashtag #ThisIsLYG. Winners will be selected based on the ability, creativity and style shown in their video. You must have permission from your parents before sharing content.
Don't forget it's not just about the winning though, you have the opportunity to do something completely different, and represent the Borough at the same time!
Do I need sports equipment?
No! If you do have some, great, use it. If you don’t, you’ll need to be creative - maybe use a rolled up pair of socks as a ball and a bucket as a basket!
Ultimately, you have nothing to lose by taking part so GET INVOLVED!!
(Remember, this entire competition is run by London Youth Games which is an external organisation. This means that the CSG PE department has no control over the events, results, prizes, information you submit or anything else related to the competition.)
