Hi everyone -- Cassius here.
Time has gone really quickly. Founder’s Day feels like yesterday and I have become rather acclimatised to lockdown despite simultaneously wishing it was over.
Whilst lockdown is yet to be lifted, the time has come for me to lift the virtual crown of ‘headboymanship’ from my head. With many year 12s standing for election, I’d like to both inform people about the role but also reflect on my year as head boy.
I was quick to learn that being headboy at a school like Camden isn’t a walk in the park. Camden has a vast array of traditions as one would expect of an 149 year old school.
From speaking in assemblies, I’ve really developed my leadership and public speaking skills but equally from the panto I learnt about delegation and taking a back seat. When Abby and I hosted Plantain Day I learnt about the importance of representation and the inquisitive nature of Camden students and don’t even get me started on when I had to dress as Father Christmas in front of the main school!
Overall, my experience of being head boy of Camden School for Girls has not only been enjoyable but also enriching, which can not be said of many things in life. So if you want to become Camden’s next headboy, headgirl or just part of the senior prefect team -- go for it, challenge yourself!
I hope we can return to school soon and see each other once again (albeit in hazmat suits and protective masks!)
